My goal as a Coach and Owner of CrossFit Sun is simple: I want to help people. That has always been my focus from a very young age.

Health is one of the most important things in life, in my opinion.  I believe that improving the lives of people with fitness gives them a good shot at health, and that fact gives me great satisfaction. Once I found that being in the fitness industry was my calling, I never looked back. I am constantly studying and evolving to find the most effective ways to help people attain and maintain true fitness. I want the best training methods for the people I befriend, first doing no harm (Hippocrates), and this journey has led me to CrossFit.

I have always lived an active lifestyle, and no matter what sport I was participating in, I would always work out regularly to specialize for that sport.  I thought I was in good shape until I started practicing CrossFit(!)  Personally, CrossFit has improved many aspects of my life.  It has made me physically faster and stronger as well as mentally stronger. The most amazing thing about CrossFit that I have observed is that it brings positive people together and really uplifts entire groups. Ask around inside our Box about the transformations people most appreciate. There are many.

I learned from a fitness professor to never teach or give anything to your clients unless you have tried it. I still practice that principle. CrossFit is the lifestyle I live and you will often be working right next to me or my brother when you begin attending. See you soon!

I feel very blessed to have found CrossFit, and even more so to be able to share it with others. The amazing and rapid physical changes people experience from CrossFitting are very rewarding feelings, and I am gratified to be teaching it. Time and time again I see our Members' lives change for the better.

A great example is our father. He has been suffering from shoulder pain for the last 30 years. He has tried everything from acupuncture, cortisone shots, chiropractic, visiting numerous specialists, physical therapy, and even considered the horrifying option of cutting off half of his shoulder blade bone (scapula). I was finally able to convince him to give CrossFit a try before undertaking this dangerous and irreversible operation. Within one month of CrossFitting his pain and aches were reduced by half. He has ceased taking pain killers and even stopped taking his cholesterol lowering drugs. This story, and many others like it, are each a reason why I love being a Coach. Having the ability to improve the quality of life in the people's lives that we touch is the most fulfilling feeling in the world.

In additional to improving our physical health, we have created a great community and environment of fun, support, love, and happiness. Thanks to CrossFit I have met and become friends with the most amazing people from all walks of life that I would have otherwise never had the pleasure of meeting. This is by far the best by-product of any fitness program in the world. Having a group of friends to laugh together, encourage each other, hold each other accountable, and compete with each other as we push ourselves to new heights is what CrossFit is all about. We look forward to meeting you and introducing you to our family and healthy lifestyle.

I am new to the world of coaching, but not to the world of "fitness". While growing up I led a very active lifestyle playing all kinds of sports. In my younger years I was overweight and not concerned about my health. It wasn't until my late teens that I buckled down and started spending time focusing on my eating habits and fitness. Over the years, I tried various diets that were popular at the time, did regular whole body cleansing and got big into the Globo Gym scene. During that phase, I would be in the gym 5-6 times a week for about 90 minutes. I would go through periods of being amped on the gym and periods of bored out of my mind. Often times I found my work outs lacked purpose and focus.

I was introduced to CrossFit about a year and a half ago. My first 3 CrossFit workouts were the Burpee Mile, Cindy, and Fight Gone Bad. It is a miracle I continued to come do these “fun” workouts.  All kidding aside, it was a big reality check. I am very competitive and when these workouts really challenged me, I realized that I had a lot of work to do in order to be in "good shape". It motivated me to continue to go back and learn all that Mark and Chung had to teach me.

CrossFit has changed all aspects of my life for the better. I am in the best shape of my life both physically and mentally. I have been with CrossFit Sun from the very start.  I am proud to be part of the box that Mark and Chung are running. CrossFit Sun is a community of friends and family that I have grown to love and I am so very proud to call my home.

My goal as a trainer is to be able to give back all that CrossFit has given to me, a Family. While training, I plan to share my knowledge with the members and educate them on the how and why of CrossFit. This will allow them to use that information to transform their lives for the better as well. My focus will be to work hard in providing you with a positive and fun experience in the box, while challenging and motivating you.

I feel very grateful to be the newest (if not youngest) Coach at CrossFit Sun!

It is never easy to find time for people to work out, I know. While I have always been dedicated to fitness, at the moment I found CrossFit Sun I realized that simply "finding some time" to occasionally work out was no longer my desire. It had quickly become a way of life with an exciting 5-day-per-week regimen. At 43 years old and with two children, I now feel I am in the best shape of my life.

As a child in Canada I competed in gymnastics and in my teens went on to coach new students. In my twenties I was a fitness-club (globo) regular. After moving to the USA in 2004 I decided it was time to try and help others bring fitness into their lives. It was then that I decided to become an ACE Certified Personal Fitness Trainer and start my own business.

CrossFit Sun and I met nearly 3 years ago while I was researching some new fitness techniques to incorporate in to my personal training. I became fascinated with the constantly varied programs and tried to find a place I could join for myself. I had found everything I was looking for and everything I wanted, but until then I didn't know what I had been missing in my own fitness programming. At CrossFit Sun our goal is not only to see how fast and how strong we can be, but do so where form and technique are critical components to success.

CrossFit Sun for me is a place to connect with people who share the same attraction to fitness that I do. With my fellow Members, we provide each other with accountability, giving each other the push that we all need to go beyond the limits we unknowingly set for ourselves. I love how CrossFit brings out our friendly competitive side in a way where we are competing with ourselves and our previous scores, all while having our teammates cheer us on. You can think of it as a spinning class without bikes and without a scene projector, where we all do the same basic things at the same time, at high intensity, and variable duration. The workout you will get in this or nearly any CrossFit group is like no other, guaranteed. The people are what make it work. Accountability.

If you think finding time to schedule fitness into your life is difficult and is what has been holding you back from consistent and committed high-effort workouts, try scheduling a partner, any partner, to come work out with you at these levels every week, 4-5 times per week. It's almost impossible. There is no better feeling than having someone always being available to shout your name saying "you can do it!"  It gives you the push and drive you need. Or having a running partner nearby to simply pick up or hold the pace a bit.

I am very thankful to have found CrossFit Sun and I am anxious to share my knowledge while continuing to learn and grow myself.

My aspirations with CrossFit Sun are to continue to improve my skills, and learn new techniques, new ways to help each Member reach their fitness goals. We have a wonderful community, come check it out!
