For you, “fitness results” may mean cardiovascular improvements, better endurance, specific fat loss, increased strength, better mobility, or other goals. We help you achieve your own goals with fanatical coaching about proper form and encouraging your good intensity during rational, focused workout programs. We help you learn to breathe a lot and to sweat a lot. Together.

Our goal is to enhance everybody’s “general physical preparedness” (aka GPP) and we scale all workouts to each person’s individual fitness level. That is one of the beauties of CrossFit: Scalability. Eventually with commitment, usually within a few months, most people improve to the point of going “mainstream” into the “Rx” or unscaled workouts. It is a good goal. Meanwhile, everybody does a version of the same thing at the same time.

If you are looking for CrossFit San Diego in central mid-county San Diego, we are just off the I-15 between 4S Ranch and Poway, near Rancho Bernardo, Sabre Springs, Carmel Valley, and Penasquitos. We have friends at CrossFit Brand-X in Scripps Ranch, CrossFit Barracks in 4S Ranch, CrossFit Total, CrossFit Ultra in the Poway area. All of these are nearby Boxes you can also check for your local convenience. As an aside, some people browsing our site express that they like "spinning" classes too which is a great specialized workout that is fairly good cardiovascular training, local places include Cyclone Fitness and Studio Sweat. What kind of people go to CrossFit Sun? We warmly welcome all kinds of people, all ages, both sexes. We certainly have exceptionally fit superstar “beasts” of many years participation in the CrossFit world who are role models for us all. But the bulk of our members are beginners such as recent moms who are ready to lose a lot of baby weight, military and pre-military men and women, high school and college students, grandparents and retirees who are aged into their 80s, we even have personal trainers from other gyms, and doctors! We also offer CrossFit Kids classes for children 3 and up in the afternoons.

CrossFit gyms are generally no-frills affairs with 4 walls and a padded floor, and so they are often called a “Box.” In our Box, as with many CrossFit affiliates, we have grown a friendly and supportive culture of about 60+ people who know exactly why they are showing up to each class: accountability, intensity, camaraderie. Many people in our Box become fast friends as you come to recognize the levels of commitment each of you have to similar goals. Those who sweat together seem to become family together.

We also focus on the whole body solution to fitness, not just going for cardiovascular intensity (see: met-cons or MIIT) every day of the week. Our programming is more much more planned and varied than that. We strongly encourage rest in abundance. And we have a strong belief in the benefits of a serious mobilization program (see Functional Flexibility link to the right) which includes proven stretching methods that increase and maintain our overall musculo-skeletal health in the long term. We will help you learn to love self-administered LaCrosse ball massages in ways you probably had not considered!

Additionally, we are committed to making available dietary information that we have tested and have proven works for us. It will help you get and stay lean, as well as ensure we are each fueled up for workout intensity (see Meal of the Day link to the right). Our favorite eating style (don't call it a "diet") is a mixture of the increasingly popular Paleo and Zone methods you may have heard about. Ask about eating cleanly and we are very happy to espouse more.

If you are worried about super-jacked bodybuilder-types or folks with huge egos surrounding you at the CrossFit Sun Box, don’t worry. They seem to sense our way is not for them. If they know anything at all, they know CrossFit is not the method for getting huge. At CrossFit Sun we check our egos with reps and rounds. Gravity keeps all of us in check!
